The Hospital São Lucas da Pucs (HSL) receives, annually, 2,000 undergraduate students, technical courses and specialization. The students of the Pontifical Catholic University of Rio Grande do Sul - PUCRS develop theoretical-practical activities in the institution and come from the following schools.
School of health and life sciences:biomedicine, biological sciences, physical education, nursing, pharmacy, physiotherapy, nutrition, dentistry and psychology.

School of Humanities: Pedagogy and Social Service.The mission to formalize the presence of teaching in HSL is under the responsibility of the teaching support sector, located in organizational development (ground floor). The sector enables the necessary conditions for welcoming students and teachers of PUCRS and other teaching institutions, favoring stages, supervised observational practices in vacation and visits to HSL units.

In it, the candidate's curriculum should be registered to plead the desired vacancy. Currently, we have areas of action: assistance, financial, controlling, pharmacy and supplies and support areas. We emphasize nursing technician courses, pharmacy, nursing, production engineering, information technology and administration / accounting sciences.

The HSL clinical research center is a reference in Brazil in its area of action. With a structure of 750 square meters, it has 32 researchers from 16 distinct specialties. The sector initiated activities in 2008 and integrates the National Clinical Research Network, a joint initiative of the Ministries of Science and Technology and Health for testing medicines used in the Unified Health System (SUS).

The Institute of Geriatrics and Gerontology was created on November 27, 1973, through a protocol signed between the governments of Japan and Brazil, for medical scientific exchange, and on December 1 was officially opened. It was the first cooperation project established by Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) for Latin America. Since its inception, the institute is a specialized body of PUCRS, directly linked to the pro-rectory of research and graduate of the university.
