Endoscopy

Endoscopy is a specialty through which a technique is used by means of a fine caliber hose, with a camera at its end, real-time investigates images of the body's hollow cavities. Digestive endoscopy contemplates a series of exams with which it is possible to carry out numerous diagnoses of the gastrointestinal tract pathologies, disease prevention as well as to carry out treatment of various diseases being a specialty that involves diagnostic and therapeutic procedures. Like digestive endoscopy, respiratory endoscopy also allows both diagnostic and therapeutic procedures.

Endoscopic procedures are considered minimally invasive procedures and are among the techniques of modern medicine that presented greater progress in accuracy and complexity over the last few years.

We provide assistance to outpatient and hospitalized patients and offer on-sided on endoscopic urgency and emergency procedures during 24 h of the day. Our service presents great relevance in the endoscopic scenario, with more than 40 years of history being responsible for influencing and training a large portion of the gaucho endoscopists, always promoting qualified assistance associated with teaching, research and innovation. In the year 2021 the Endoscopy Service of the Hospital São Lucas da PUCRS was approved as the Education and Training Center of the Brazilian Endoscopy Society (Sobed), condition is granted there are three hospitals in southern Brazil.

• Digestive Digestive Endoscopy Diagnostic
• Digestive endoscopy high therapeutic (biopsies, polypectomies, resections of carcinogenic or pre cancer lesions, endoscopic dilatations, passage of self-expansible prostheses, treatment of ulcers and esophageal-gastric varices, probes passages and withdrawal of foreign borers, treatment of digestive bleeding among others).
• endoscopy for enteral accesses (Endoscopic gastrostomies and jejunostomies)
• Bariatric endoscopy (intragastric balloon passage and treatment of surgical complications)
